No Brand Con Is Moving to Stevens Point, WI September 1-3, 2023!

A lot of you have been wondering why we hadn’t announced our dates yet for 2023. And while we’ll explain everything if you keep reading, to jump to the point we’ll just start by announcing No Brand Con XX will be held September 1-3, 2023 at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Stevens Point, WI!

While we had an amazing convention this last April, it’s become increasingly clear over the last few years that the Wisconsin Dells wasn’t the right home for No Brand Con. The event spaces available didn’t really suit the kind of con we wanted to run, and — frankly — it’s an expensive place to attend an event. So, for the last few months we’ve been digging in and looking at our options. We reached out to venues around the state, pored over convention center layouts, and looked at what kind of a city would be the best home for the No Brand Heroes.

In the end, we settled on Stevens Point, WI for a couple of reasons.

First off, we like the town because it reminds us of where we came from. No Brand Con started out as an anime convention in a college town, and we’d like to become that again. Stevens Point used to host an anime convention (until circumstances outside of that organization’s control forced it to move), so we think we’ll be right at home there.

Secondly, we really like the venue. One of the biggest complaints folks had about No Brand Con over the last few years was that everything was too spread out at the Chula Vista. The con was split between four levels and nothing was close together. Our new venue in Stevens Point fixes that — putting all of our event on a single level and easy to find.

Finally, there is the change to our date. No Brand Con historically has always been held in the Spring, and we’re moving to early September. We’re doing this because, frankly, the spring calendar is and has always been a crowded place. Year after year before arranging our dates we’ve been forced to reach out to other events and make sure we had an adequate number of weeks between our con and another — not always successfully. It’s been, frankly, hard to manage a calendar. And with our decision to relocate to another city, we thought that this would be the best time to rethink our place in the schedule.

Preregistration will open for No Brand Con 2023 on October 15th, so we hope you’re as excited as we are.

And, just in case, here are some answers to questions we anticipate:

I was originally registered for No Brand Con 2020/2021/2022 and rolled over my preregistration to 2023, do I need to do anything?
All rolled over registrations are in our records, and we are still in process of adding them to the 2023 registration logs right now. You should receive an email by November 1st confirming your 2023 registration. If you do not get one by that date, please reach out to us.

Are your COVID-19 precautions still in place?
Right now it is hard to judge what the landscape will look like in September of 2023. Our current policies require all attendees to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and that attendees mask. While we are looking at streamlining our vaccination verification procedures (after seeing what does and doesn’t work at No Brand Con 2022), we haven’t formalized our final plans and likely won’t until we’re much closer to the event. Please know that we may choose to keep our 2022 precautions in place for the safety of our attendees and staff.

Will Duct Tape Boy be there?
Yes.

Tell Us About Your Experience With No Brand Con 2022!

The weekend is over, and most of us are pretty exhausted from running No Brand Con 2022 – but the work never stops around here! We want to know how you think we did, so it’s time for our regular post-convention survey!

There are a couple of important, new questions this time around, so read it carefully. Tell us what you liked, tell us what you didn’t like! We take your feedback seriously, and always want to know how we can do better. The survey is anonymous as well, so feel free to give us as much details as you are comfortable with.

So please, if you attended No Brand Con 2022, we want to know how it was — because we’re honestly striving to make it as great an experience as possible. We’re a smaller con, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to give you a big experience.

So what are you waiting for? Get on over to the survey and fill it out!

There Are TWO New Shirts Available For No Brand Con This Year!

Every No Brand Con we put out a limited edition T-Shirt for that event at our official Merchandise booth, and this year we (of course) yet again have one for sale. But besides the No Brand Con 2022 shirt… we have another. You see, when we cancelled our dates for No Brand Con 2020 we had already printed the shirts.

So, we have a stock of shirts for a con that literally never happened.

So that means that this year our merchandise table (in the vendor room) will be selling both of these shirts! It’s exciting! Both No Brand Con 2022 and “2020” shirts will be available for $20 a piece, or you can get both shirts together as a package for $30! When we designed the 2022 shirt we decided to go for a very different style than our 2020 shirt, so there’s something for everyone between the two.

Sizes and supplies are limited, so make sure you get down there as early as you can!

Volunteer For No Brand Con 2022!

Did you know that if you join our volunteer team, you can get reimbursed for your No Brand Con badge? That’s right, if you work for ten hours over the course of the con weekend, the convention becomes effectively free to attend!

One of the best things about No Brand Con is that it’s run by fans like you, and as we’re an event completely driven by people donating their time, it’s a great way to feel a part of it.

To find out more information, check our our volunteer page. If you decided that you’re interested, just make a copy of our 2022 volunteer application, fill it out, and email it to volunteering@nobrandcon.org! You won’t regret it.

(Reminder: All Volunteers, like Attendees, must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination)
