Website Hiccup Resolved!

kaboom!

Hey folks – those of you who visited NoBrandCon’s website this week may have noticed a few glitches. You know, things like the site being down.

(That’s still a glitch, right?)

These were caused by problems with our hosting company, and we apologize severely for this ill-timed problem. But our webmonkeys went straight to work, fought through lines of code and data, and have been restoring the website! The forums are back up, as is this news section (obviously), and so much more. Thank you for bearing with us in this technically irritating moment, and we hope to see you all in person in a week!

That’s right, NoBrandCon is only a week away! Please feel free to dance around in joy.

Less than three weeks to go!

Are you excited yet?

You guys rock — we had a record-breaking pre-registration period, ending with over 300 people signed up for the con! To put that into perspective, that’s twice the pre-regs and half the total attendance for 2006. 2007 will be nothing short of amazing.

We start sending out confirmation letters this week, so keep an eye on your mailbox. If for some reason you don’t get yours before you leave for the con, just make sure you have a photo ID handy — we have everyone in our system, so either way it won’t take you long to get in the doors.

Thanks again everyone for making this another record-breaking year. We look forward to seeing you later this month!

Good news! One more week to pre-register!

Due to some webhost difficulties, we’re extending the registration deadline one more week! You now have until Friday, March 30th to pre-register for No Brand Con 2007! One more week, isn’t that exciting? If you’ve been having trouble at all getting the online registration (or the site in general) to work, fear not! If your frustration has lead to to think you were going to miss it entirely, there’s always the printable form available on the site as well.

While online registration will close on the 30th at midnight (technically the 31st, I suppose), you only have to have your mail-in registrations postmarked by that time. So as long as you get your letter to your mail carrier or post office before 5pm (earlier in some places), you should be good to go. We’ll be waiting for them to all come in, and we’ll be sending out confirmation letters as fast as we can get ’em!

Note: this extension DOES NOT INCLUDE deadlines for No Brand Comic, Panel submissions, the AMV contest, or any other area of convention participation with a deadline — these items are still due tomorrow, March 23rd. Again, any mail-in items only need be postmarked by that date.

Also, in case you missed it, No Brand Alumn Tiffany Grant will be joining us once again for her fourth year! It’s a neck-n-neck tie between her and Joe!

Good luck, and see you at the convention!

Pre-registration Deadline Approaching, Hotel Full!

Online pre-registration will close at midnight March 23rd which means if you haven’t already you only have a little over a weekto do so! If you don’t have paypal we do accept checks with mail in registrations. Links to both types of registration can be found on our Attendee Information page. Remember if you pre-register you save $5 compared to at the door, special pricing on purchasing a No Brand Con T-Shirt, and you also get a free copy of the No Brand Comic! Only 5 weeks until No Brand Con, woo~

Also, the hotel has filled up this year much earlier than last. You guys certainly are getting faster! 😉 We did some searching and found three nearby hotels that you can stay at, all within a couple blocks of the con. Here they are:

OAAH! event at MarsCon 2007!

OAAH!

Hey folks, the crazy No Brand Heroes are at it again, and are invading another convention for a good old fashioned OAAH! Room party.

This weekend we’ll be showing up at MarsCon, in Bloomington, MN. Our party is on the Saturday night of the convention (March 3rd), so look out for us. Rumor has it that the Gardening Ninja himself may be walking around as well… with or without his rake depending on what time of the day it is. So, stop on by our room on the 13th floor, say hello, and have a great time.

Or don’t. It’s really up to you.

Announcing New Guests for No Brand Con 2007

Invites were sent out and I am pleased to confirm two brand new guests for this year! First we have musical guest Lisa Furukawa who will be performing popular anime tunes as well as presenting panels. Second, we have the very popular voice actor Spike Spencer, you might know him as Shinji from Neon Genesis Evengelion or from one of his dozens of other roles.

We are also thrilled to be bringing back a fan favorite, Joe Grisaffi! He has been hard at work on some new projects and with luck will be showing them at No Brand Con. What is guaranteed is that he will be a great guest to hang around with and that he will continue to smell like muffins.

Behind the Scenes at NoBrandCon!

No Brand Con 2007 Behind the Scenes

We thought you guys would enjoy it if we showed you what happens behind closed doors in No Brand Con planning. Because of that, we put cameras into one of our crucial planning meetings! Some of your favorite No Brand Heroes (GreenBoy, Cardboard Commando and the Gardening Ninja) met to discuss this year’s theme, and you’ll be surprised with what they chose!

OAAH! event at Ohayocon 2007!

OAAH! Logo

It’s been forever since we’ve had one of these so we thought we would start the new year out fresh with an OAAH! event! I’m guessing many of you don’t know what OAAH is unless you have been around for awhile: it stands for Otaku Anonymous After Hours! and basically refers to No Brand Con staff hosting a room party at another con or just driving somewhere and having funn.

This time we are going to Ohayocon! Yeah it’s in Ohio…. yeah it’s a long ways away… but it’s the biggest convention within driving distance of Wisconsin between now and No Brand! We’ll be there, will YOU? Look for our flyers to find out what neat stuff we’ll be up to once we’re there! 😀
