Registration Extended and Volunteering!

Originally, Preregistration was scheduled to close on March 23rd — but guess what? You have a little more time! No Brand Con has decided to extend preregistration to 11:59pm March 31st! So get on over and Preregister already!

We’ve also put up our Volunteer information for 2010 as well. Check out the 2010 Volunteer Manual here if you’re interested, and then fill out a Volunteer form and email it to volunteering@nobrandcon.org.

And don’t forget, there’s still time to Sponsor No Brand Con as well!

Anime Milwaukee & Two Guest Announcements!

Only about 7 weeks remain until the start of NoBrandCon 9! This upcoming weekend, several staffers will be heading down to Anime Milwaukee 3.5 to volunteer and have some fun before crunch time hits as we get ready for NoBrandCon at the end of April.

Also, we’d like to officially announce our Art and Music guests for this years con!

Due to popular demand and a lot of requests, Michael “Mookie” Terracciano will be coming back for a second year as our official art guest. Mookie is a web comic artist most well known for his web comic Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire.

For our rock show on Friday night, Dr. Cancer and the SKAmbies based out of Stevens Point will be performing as well as some of our own in house groups, so be sure to check them out if you get a chance!

Finally, just as a reminder for all our prospective attendees, the Ramada currently is full. For information on our overflow hotels, click here.

The Hotel STEAK!

STEAK is this upcoming weekend! For those of you who don’t know what STEAK is, it’s an annual gaming event the NoBrandCon staff run every year at UW-Eau Claire. This year’s STEAK will be happening on the second floor of the UWEC Davies Center in the Badger, Clearwater, and Wisconsin rooms in the Skylight Lounge area. The event starts at 10 AM both on Saturday the 20th, and Sunday the 21st and runs till 11PM each night. You can check out the event’s facebook page linked at the beginning for more info!

Secondly, we’ve confirmed this week with the Ramada Inn this week that the main convention hotel is completely booked up for NoBrandCon weekend. They are currently accepting names for a waiting list, but in case you can’t get a room, we’ve established two hotels again this year as overflow to accommodate those attendees who can’t get a room at the Ramada but still need a place to stay during the weekend.

They are:

Rodeway Inn & Suites
1828 S. Hastings Way
Eau Claire, WI 54701
(715) 835-3600

Heartland Inn
4075 Commonwealth Ave.
Eau Claire, WI 54701
(715) 839-7100

We’ve established special rates at both hotels for our attendees, so you’ll need to call the hotels directly in order to get those special convention rates. Just mention you’re attending NoBrandCon weekend from April 30th to May 2nd and you should be good to go.

Guests & STEAK Update

It’s about 3 months and counting to NoBrandCon 9, and we have a couple of important updates to share with everyone!

First, we’d like to announce our first three guests of honor for this year’s convention! Chris Cason, Todd Haberkorn, and Wendy Powell. All three have extensive backgrounds in voice acting as well as other areas and we’re very fortunate to have all three of them attending this year’s convention! Click on our convention guests page to check out their bios.

Second, we’d like to announce we have our new cofirmed dates for STEAK 2009/10. This year’s STEAK will be occuring on February 20 & 21, 2010 on the second floor of the UWEC Davie’s Center. Feel free to check out STEAK’s facebook page or join the discussion on our forums for more info! We will be publishing a schedule of events for STEAK in the upcoming weeks, so be sure to check back as we get closer to 2/20!

Korea (Artist Alley) Registration is Open!

We’re opening up Korea! And by Korea, we mean our Artist Alley (as we all know that’s where everything gets drawn in this industry anyway). Well, actually, it’s been open for a little while, but we forgot to tell you about it. Yes, we kind of feel bad about that — but we’re telling you now! You can find the information on our Artist Alley page.

Remember that to register for Artist Alley you must already be preregistered to attend the convention, and that our Artist Alley fills up quickly!
